Henvey Inlet Wind Farm

The Henvey Inlet Wind power facility is the largest single-phase wind facility and the largest on-reserve wind installation in Canada. It is located on Henvey Inlet First Nation Reserve No. 2 on the northeast shore of Georgian Bay in Pickerel, 90 kilometres south of Sudbury.

Pierre Gagne Contracting was contracted to drill holes for tower foundations for the new high tension power line connecting the wind farm to the power grid. Each tower required two holes with a 36” diameter and 3.5 meters to 4.5 meters depth. There was almost no overburden and the holes were drilled straight into bedrock composed of a very hard granite.
